On the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations on 16th November 1995, UNESCO member states affiliated a Declaration based on principles Tolerance. Tolerance is neither indulgence or negligence but recognizes the universal human rights and proper liberation. It ensures existence of several communities which are present through out the Globe. The tolerance should be a need for political and legal requirements for the states.
The UN General Assembly in 1996 invited the UN member states for the basic observance for tolerance in educational and for the betterment of the public in a wider scale. The 2005 World Summit Outcome assures the welfare of human, freedom and progress in all fields along with the cooperation with the different cultures and people. Education for tolerance for the young people should be provided so that they can develop self judgement reasoning and proper thinking. The wide diversity of our entire mother Earth is not meant for a conflict but it should be preserved for a better future.Tolerance at state level requires impartial legislation so that people are not discriminated on any basis. A state should protect the International Human Right conventions so that equal qualifications, treatment is given in a society. Tolerance at social dimensions is more useful because it has marked the Globalization of the economy. Communication, Integration,Urbanization are the new changes that are bought about in the society. Tolerance is essential between families and the different community levels. It takes place in the various educational institutions as well.Tolerance should be promoted mainly by the means of education. If the right thoughts are given then the respect for the other communities will automatically be developed within people. A systematic and rational tolerance teaching is necessary for the cultural, economic, social and political aspect of intolerance. The people should implement to do away with any kind of non-violence or intolerance. Any form of vulnerable groups and their not taking part socially or politically may lead to intolerance. The Declaration on Race and Racial Prejudice says that all the individuals and the groups have the write to be different from one another but should not be a victim of intolerance.
We the people of the world should take the pledge of removing intolerance on this tolerance day. The international tolerance day also proclaims almost the same objective with the help of the various UN events. the United Nations events did take a lot of initiative to remove the intolerance through out the world. This article is focused on the selective measures of removing intolerance on this International Tolerance Day on 16th of November.
