November 10th 2014 will be a day to remember! It will day like no other as the United Nations Events is sponsoring an annual event called World Science Day for Peace and Development. The purpose on the day is to nationally and internationally renew their commitment to science with the intended purpose to promote peace and development. This international event is a worldwide celebration to remind us of the commitment that was made at the World Conference on Science in Budapest 1999.

World Science Day is an event offers us an opportunity for bringing together various partners for the purpose of highlighting the important role that science plays in society and to help engage the public in debates on up and coming scientific issues along with the relevance of science in our everyday life.

The theme for this year’s event is to highlight Quality Science Education, creating a sustainable future for all. There will be many activities going on at this spectacular event:

WSDPD‘s main activity focus will be to launch The World Library of Science or WLoS. WLoS will be a free online science resource that is intended for the global community.

The ceremony for the event is set to be held on Monday, November the 10th from 10:30  till noon. This event will take place in the UNESCO Headquarters.

A day like this is a great way to honor the scientific ideas that are shaping the world around us. As we shape the idea so does that idea in turn shape us. Awareness of that idea helps it to grow bigger. This UN events is all about raising that awareness so that these ideas can grow bigger around the world.

Science is the way of that future. Without scientific awareness our world will not be able to sustain itself. To create a sustainable future for us all, we must all be willing to work together to achieve that goal. World science Day is the perfect event to bring together the whole world in this common purpose. All for one and one for all!
