To further educate and support charity organizations from time to time the blog post of the week will be dedicated to one charity. The first featured charity post is about a foundation that works to educate about lupus, which was the blog subject last week.

The Lupus Foundation of America, based in Washington D.C., has more than 300 support groups, offices and chapters working in 32 states within United States. The focus of the organization is on a national scale though the organization also works with 100 international organizations to support research, educate, support and advocate for people suffering from Lupus.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease, wherein which your body attacks its own cells causing inflammation, pain and other issues. The cause of this disease is still unknown and lupus remains one of the least understood conditions in humans. Across the nation, more than 16,000 new cases of lupus are reported every year. More than 1.5 million people in the United States and about 5 million people around the world are affected by some form of lupus. The most at risk group is women between 15 to 44, though teenagers, elderly and men can also be impacted.

The Lupus Foundation of America works in collaboration with different organizations and partners to bring them together for a cause. It supports and leads research initiatives by providing funding and promoting investment in these research initiatives from both public and private sector. It also works to compile the research findings in a meaningful form and provide this information to the health professionals. LFA seeks to increase awareness about this disease in public by organizing rallies and giving common platforms to its survivors. Not only this, LFA also provides support to people suffering from this condition and their families.
